According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 10 U.S. adults report feeling unfulfilled in their lives. Americans spend $9.6 billion per year on self-improvement, with forecast 5.5% average yearly gains through 2018.
That’s a lot of unhappy people . . . and those are only the ones who reported or are trying to do something about it! Too many people are working in jobs they don’t like, staying in unfulfilling relationships, maintaining less-than-ideal health, and living where they don’t feel at home. Life is simply too precious to live small or to “flatline” your way to your grave.
LEADERS NEED SUPPORT
Leaders are those brave souls who dare not only to make the most of their own lives, but to help others as well – in their workplaces, families, communities, and the world. To succeed, leaders need skills and support.
An extensive Deloitte study shows that more than 70% of organizations cite tremendous leadership skill gaps as one of their top five challenges. In 2014, spending on leadership training skyrocketed by 15% to over $70 billion in the U.S. and $130 billion worldwide. The study concludes, “As the next generation of leaders take on more responsibility, we need to build leadership skills at all levels and in all geographies around the world.”
Leadership development is critical not only in work environments, but in all arenas where leaders step up and need help to fulfill their calling.

At Shine Your Light, we know exactly what it takes to bring people of all backgrounds and experience levels to where they want to be personally and as leaders. Although we are a new nonprofit, our staff has a 23-year track record of success. This isn’t just a business goal; helping others find the courage to shine is what brings us alive. But we cannot do this alone.
As a nonprofit supported by generous donors, we can spearhead initiatives with an even greater positive social impact, such as a scholarship fund for low-income, minority populations and others who otherwise can’t afford personal and leadership development, a pool of dedicated money that enables leaders to create projects and initiatives that help their communities, and a collaboration among the top personal growth and leadership teachers of our time.
